In the crowded market of portable bridge heads, this bridge head is one of the best.

The bridge head is super high quality, constructed of an anodized aluminum finish. It is one of the sturdiest and versatile I have used. With 11 set positions (22 if you consider that you can flip it around) and 5 inches in width, it can get you out of any jam. It has great weight to it and feels substantial in your hand. It looks gorgeous and is absolutely smooth all around with no sharp edges anywhere

Part of the stability is the bridge’s size. It is substantial, at 5 inches wide by 3 1/4 inches tall (when horizontal). It is roughly the size of an iPhone 8 plus

What the bridge comes with:

You get the bridge itself along with a convenient felt carrying case, instruction sheet and three different sized silicone rubber grommets. The grommets come sized in 11mm, 12mm and 13mm to guarantee a snug fit over the ferrule of the cue based on the cue tip diameter.

Attaching the bridge head

Insert the rubber Grommet that fits the diameter of your tip

Insert the cue tip into the bridge head using a twisting motion. The silicone rubber grommet will compress for a snug fit

Using the bridge

At 5 inches high when flipped vertical, this bridge can give you all the height you need to get over any ball

With a strategically placed notch on the side, this bridge allows you to get snug to the rail

And yes, you can jump with this bridge!

Some minor areas of concern I have with the V8 Bridge Head

1) I am petrified of losing the rubber grommets. Some of the other portable bridge heads in the market have a universal rubber grommet. The V8 has custom sizes to fit the diameter of your tip. Should you lose those rubber grommets, the bridge is useless. While the custom grommets do give a great fit, I have not had problems with fit using other bridge heads that had a universal grommet. Having said that, you will be able to purchase a replacement grommet from the manufacturer for a nominal fee.

2) I noticed that there are some small specs where the finish has come off my bridge head. While this will not effect the playability, it will effect the look. So I would definitely keep it in the felt carrying bag to keep it well protected in your case

My overall assessment

I really like the V8 Bridge Head. It is one of the best portable bridge heads I have used. It is fairly high priced compared to cheaper plastic bridge heads, but there is absolutely no comparison between this bridge head and those. With regard to the higher end bridge heads this does compete with, this is actually lower priced and represents a better value.

For the money, you would be hard pressed to find a better bridge head. It is a very high quality bridge head that will last you forever (as long as you don’t lose the rubber grommets). It will get you out of any jam, is smooth as silk and is extremely versatile.

I highly recommend the V8 Bridge.
